Prayer Ministry is an intentional response to the powerful gift that God has give University United Methodist Church. Our Prayer Ministry offers  opportunities to seek God’s will and advance His kingdom in our community.  Many volunteer oppotunities are available for those seeking prayers or for those who desire to pray for others.

Emergency Prayer Telephone Chain: The purpose of this ministry is to provide prayer 24/7 for those in need. You commit to pray as soon as the request is received. You will then begin the telephone chain by calling the next person on the prayer chain. You may choose the time of the day you would prefer to receive any calls. day (9am-6pm) of evening (6pm-9am). Upper Room Ministry: Individuals gather once a week in the chapel and commit to pray for the needs submitted on a prayer request card. You will pray confidentially for each pray request. You can choose your prayer time, between 8am-8pm, that best suits your schedule. For more information,please contact Chrissie Smith, Chrissie@satx.rr.com

Called to Pray: UUMC’s Called to Pray ministry intercedes for our clergy, staff,leaders and ministries with united and corporate prayer. This group meets on the 1st Thursday of every month in the Chapel from 6-7pm. Contact Nancy Burdine for more information. nburdine@satx.rr.com

Prayer Guides for Sanctuary and U/Praise:  Prayer Guides are available to pray with those requesting prayer after the worship services. For Sanctuary Prayer, please contact Steve Laufman, slaufman@satx.rr.com . For U/Praise Prayer, please contact Ofelia Flores, osf1997@yahoo.com

Special Event Prayer: Members of the U are given the opportunity to pray for various events. Pastors, staff or Lay Leaders may notify the Prayer Ministry of their desire for a prayer vigil for their event. Contact Chrissie Smith for more information, chrissie@satx.rr.com

Prayer Card Ministry:Cards of encouragement are sent to those requesting cards. Cards and postage are provided for you and all cards may be addressed from your home. Contact Linda Inzerello for additional information, lindainzerello@hotmail.com

E-mail Prayer Chain: Commit to pray when a prayer request has been received. E-mails may contain several requests, and you may receive more than one prayer request daily. We ask all volunteers to have an individual e-mail account in order to receive daily prayer request.
